Legend Press acquire Paperbooks

Legend Press is acquiring independent publisher PaperBooks, a company formed by Keirsten Clark in 2006.

Tom Chalmers of Legend Press says on his blog

When they first appeared on the scene, I was aware of certain similarities with Legend Press, in terms of ethos and approach and they have a fantastic list of authors who I can't wait to work with and also to build with new commissioning.

Keirsten, who will now concentrate on her literary consultancy writing.co.uk , said

This is a fantastic opportunity for PaperBooks and couldn't have come at a better time in the development of the company and the authors' careers.

Each company will run separately but under the same umbrella. Tom plans to increase the output of paperbooks and will appoint someone to run Paperbooks for him.

My good friend Paul Burman's book comes out soon under Paperbooks, so I hope this helps get his book The Snowing & Greening of Thomas Passmore a boost when released.

The Friday Project goes into Liquidation

The Friday Project is a publisher that picks up the best literature from blogs and the Internet as a whole and turns them into published books.

Founded in 2005, the company went into liquidation on Monday and is in the process of being sold to Harper Collins.

Be interesting to see what HarperCollins do with it, as the publishing industry gets more switched on to the possibilities that the web can bring to it.
